SURVIVED BY: He is survived by his wife, Alexandra McClintock and son Declan McClintock of Tacoma, WA, his father and step-mother, George Burns (Sonny) & Rumi McClintock III, of Jacksonville, FL, his mother, Joyce Montoya-Helgesen, of Albuquerque, NM, and his brother, Kevin Williams, Grandparents, Gilbert Montoya and Cecilia Montoya. Aunt Georgia Montoya, Uncle Roman Montoya, Aunt and husband, Sarah (Jeff) Boyce of Chillicothe, OH, uncle and wife, John Robert (Susie) McClintock of Bidwell, OH, cousins: Marisa Montoya, Alex Montoya, Victor Serecerez, Mitchell McClintock, Bradley Cummings, and Vanessa Cummings.

 

On January 5, 2016 SFC Matt McClintock's Team came under fire near the city of Marjah, Afghanistan. The battle ensued for five long hours. Two of Matts teammates were wounded during the exchange and needed to be medically evacuated by helo. Matt took it upon himself to mark the DZ in order to signal for the MEDEVAC Helo in an attempt to save his teammates/friends. While moving to the DZ, Matt  was hit by enemy fire and tragically lost his life.
